Hyderabad: Three puppies fall into manhole pit, rescued
Hyderabad: Three puppies out of a litter of five fell into a pit which had been dug up to build a manhole in Nallakunta. Residents heard the distress cries of the puppies and called in activists of the NGO, Animal Rescuers.
Residents and team members had to dig up a pit and crawl through a narrow pipe to reach the pit where the pups were stuck. The puppies were rescued form the pit and the pipelines sealed to avoid further accidents.
“Although the pit was covered, an adjoining pipeline was open. These pups were born in a drain line and into the pit,” said a resident.
Mr Pradeep Nair, member of Animal Rescuers, said, “It was a long rescue operation as the pipeline which we had to crawl through was narrow. With monsoon, these drain lines start flooding and the pups start drowning. So keep an eye out for abandoned pipelines and distress calls from animals.”
