Jaipur hit-and-run case: CCTV video shows key accused drinking
Jaipur: Belying Jaipur hit-and-run case accused Sidharth Mahria’s claim that he was not inebriated when the accident took place, a new CCTV footage has emerged which shows him and his friends drinking in a bar past midnight, few hours before the fatal accident.
According to reports, Sidharth, the son of independent MLA Nand Kishore Maharia, and his friends have been bar-hopping since 6.15 pm and CCTV footage from the hotel clearly show the three young men get into his car, where Sidharth takes the driver's seat.
The video is expected to strengthen the police’s case against the 20-year-old, who earlier claimed that he was not drunk and it was his driver who was behind the wheels when the accident took place.
The incident took place at around 1.50 am in the wee hours of July 2, when Siddharth along with his cousin Jayant were going to their house in Jalupura in a BMW 520d Sedan.
The speeding car collided with an auto rickshaw, killing three people on the spot and injuring one, before ramming into a PCR van of the Ashok Nagar police station.
Eyewitnesses claim that the three-wheeler fell about 200 feet away from site of the accident under impact of the crash. Four police officers were also injured in the accident.
