Hyderabad: Man convicted for raping minor girl
Hyderabad: A 36 year old person was convicted to life imprisonment for raping a 15 year old girl who is mentally unsound. The rape took place in the Jubilee Hills police station limits. Sessions judge Kunchala Sunitha announced the judgement on Friday.
According to the police, Cherukuri Vishnu Murthy Raju, 36, sexually abused a girl who is mentally unsound. On the afternoon of August 11, 2011, the girl’s mother asked her to stay in the owner’s house where she was working as a maid as she was going to the hospital for treatment. Inspector K. Balakrishna Reddy of Jubilee Hills police station said, “During this time, the accused took the girl to Krishna Kant park, raped her and left her at Yousufguda. Again the next day in the absence of her mother, he went to her house when she was alone and raped her. When her mother came back home, the girl was weeping. As she is mentally unsound she could not explain. When her mother enquired with her neighbours she came to know that a man had entered her home when her daughter was alone. After further questioning the mother came to know about the rape.”
Based on a complaint from the mother, a case was registered. During the course of investigation, the accused was arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Based on the evidence of witnesses, First Additional Metropolitan Session Judge Kunchala Sunitha sentenced the accused to life imprisonment on Friday and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 2,000.
