Hyderabad: Central Zone Task Force team busted a gang of four members dealing in hawala money transfer in Jubilee Hills on Friday and seized Rs 1.40 crore cash from them.
According to the police, based on reliable information, they intercepted cars bearing numbers TS 09 EM 8838 and AP 28 DF 4444 and upon inspection found four persons illegally transporting money in them.
The four accused, identified as Pavlura Murali Chowdary, S. Rajesh,Katuri Jagadish and P. Srinu, were transporting around `1.40 crore inside a trolley suitcase. When questioned they could not provide any details about the cash nor had any valid documents regarding the origins of the cash. Subsequently, the task force team took the four accused into custody and seized the unaccountable money along with the four wheelers.
The four were handed over to the Income-Tax department along with the seized money for further investigation.
