AIADMK ministers poke fun at MK Stalin opposing Hindi

Chennai: State cooperation minister Sellur K Raju on Friday took a dig at DMK chief M K Stalin on the Hindi 'imposition' issue, saying that Sunshine School run by his family imposed fine on students who spoke in Tamil.

"Let them first implement the two-language policy (Tamil-English) in the institutions run by the family", Raju told reporters here, adding that the DMK leaders believed in preaching to others to oppose Hindi while their own family members "progressed" well by learning Hindi.

"It is not that we are in support of Hindi. From the days of Anna and MGR, we have been consistent in supporting the two-language formula. We oppose the imposition of any language on our people", the minister said.

Turning his ire at the media, he said journalists should desist from continuing to light up sparks on the language issue "despite the Centre making it clear there will be no imposition of Hindi on us".

In Kovilpatti, information minister Kadambur C Raju lashed out at Stalin for "politicising" the three-language system of education.

The opposition was playing out "fake politics" on the language issue, said the minister, pointing out that it was Chief Minister K Palaniswami who had taken up with the Prime Minister on the need to introduce Tamil as an optional language in other states so as to help the Tamil people living there.

While people knew that the AIADMK had done much for the growth of Tamils, the DMK did precious nothing except for promoting their own leaders in the name of Tamil, minister Kadambur Raju alleged.
