Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday asked the Union civil aviation ministry and Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India and the Hyderabad International Airport Ltd to spell out their stand on a petition challenging excess airport user development fee (UDF) from the petitioner and Haj pilgrims.
Justice A Rajasheker Reddy was dealing with a petition by city resident S.M. Saifullah. Counsel for the petitioner said all other international airports in the country collect Rs 1,700 as UDF from international passengers but RGIA collects Rs 15,000 from each Haj pilgrim.
He urged the court to direct the authorities to collect UDF on par with other international passengers in the interest of justice. While considering the contentions of the petitioner, the judge directed the respondents to file their stand within four weeks.
