Shift to Amaravati in a phased manner
Hyderabad: It is clear now that all secretariat departments will not be shifted at one go on June 27 from Hyderabad to temporary secretariat at Velagapudi in capital city Amaravati. The departments will be shifted in a phased manner. Two days ago, AP chief secretary, S.P. Tucker told a group of secretariat employees who met him that the departments will be shifted from Hyderabad to temporary secretariat at Velagapudi as and when the buildings are ready.
On Monday AP Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu after visiting the construction of temporary secretariat at Velagapudi said the same thing. Mr Naidu said that by June 27 construction of buildings at temporary secretariat will be completed and the government will announce before June 27, which departments have to move from Hyderabad to temporary secretariat. He said in a gap of 10 to 15 days, the remaining buildings also will be completed and the government will announce which department should move to which block at temporary secretariat.
Meanwhile chief secretary, S.P. Tucker told General Administra-tion Department officials to hold meetings with the contractors of temporary secretariat buildings to get more clarity about the completion of buildings at temporary secretariat. Mr Naidu also held a meeting with contractors two days ago at Vijayawada and directed them to complete the construction of temporary secretariat buildings at the earliest. Meanwhile the shifting of employees from Hyderabad to capital region has created rift among the leaders of employees’ associations. All the leaders said that unless the government creates adequate facilities at temporary secretariat, then the shifting of employees is not possible. Mr Naidu assured all facilities will be created at temporary secretariat to the employees.
However even as the confusion on whether all secretariat departments will be shifted at one go or in a phased manner got over, fresh confusion arrived on which departments will be shifted on June 27. Which departments are going to be shifted on June 27 has become a discussion point among secretariat employees. All the employees of secretariat are searching for rented house near the temporary secretariat. State government also issued orders on giving three days special causal leave to the employees working at Hyderabad to search for residential accommodation and for admission of their children in educational institutions in the capital city area.
