Rs 13 crore to beautify seven Chennai parks
These parks will now get walkways, aesthetic lights, indoor stadium and drinking water and lavatory facilities.
Chennai: Chennai Corporation on Tuesday announced a Rs 13 crore special package to beautify seven city parks. A press release from the Ripon Buildings said Chief minister J. Jayalalithaa in February kickstarted the Chennai park restoration project of the civic body. Subsequently under the project seven parks located in Alandur, Ayanvaram Nathamuni, Perungudi, Thuraipakkam Ananda Nagar and Nolambur areas have been identified.
These parks will now get walkways, aesthetic lights, indoor stadium and drinking water and lavatory facilities. Indigenous medicinal saplings and tree varieties like Neem, Vembu, Banyan and Poongai will be planted in the parks to enhance green cover, the release said.
