Thanjavur: 'Garuda Sevai' was held in view of 'Akshaya Thirithiyai' on Tuesday at the temple town of Kumbakonam near Thanjavur. The principal deities of 12 Vaishnavite temples gave darshan to people on Garudavahana at a pandal put up on TSR street.
The Icons of Lord Anjaneya, Thirumangaiyalwar, Thirumazhisaiyalwar, Nammalvar were also brought before the principal deities.
Hundreds of people witnessed the 'Garudasevai' event.
Principal deities, which participated in the 'Garudasevai' were from Sarangapani swami, Chakkarapani swami, Adhivaraha swami, Rajagopala swami, Bhatchariyar street Krishna swami, Venkatrayar agraharam Pattabirama swami, Solaiyappar Mudali agraharam Ramaswamy, Mallugachetty street Santhanagopalakrishna swami, Puliyanchery Venugopala swami, Kottaiyar Navaneethakrishna swami and Melacauvery Varadarajaperumal swami temples.
The huge crowd was a sure sign of the day’s significance.
