Telangana Cabinet to okay revenue law
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to hold the Cabinet meeting on May 28 to approve the drafts of the new Revenue and Municipal Acts.
With the indication from the Chief Minister of holding Cabinet meet on May 28, sources close to the government said Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi has asked the secretaries of all departments to furnish the information to his officer on all pending issues by May 25.
All political parties are expecting hectic political activity after the Lok Sabha results on May 23 for the formation of the Central government.
Sources close to the Chief Minister’s Office revealed that Mr Rao has already made up his mind to camp in Delhi after the Lok Sabha results. According to his close confidants, he could stay in New Delhi for 10 days in case of a hung Lok Sabha.
The sources said that in such scenario the Cabinet will meet only after the formation of the government at the Centre. Otherwise as per the schedule the Cabinet will meet on May 28.
If the government forms at the Centre before May 28, the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections will cease to be in force and then the Cabinet could take the decision of increasing payouts under Asara pension and Rythu Bandhu scheme.
However, State Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar has clarified that while the government may hold Cabinet meetings, policy decisions may not be taken until the conclusion of the election code.
The decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting could could be announced much later.
The sources further said that the Legislative Assem-bly could be convened for two days from May 29 to 31 to approve the two new Bills and also other crucial matters.
