Hyderabad: Polygraph test on Sana Satish Babu

The test was conducted to ascertain if Mr Asthana had lied about paying a bribe of Rs 3 crore to Dubai-based brothers on behalf of Asthana.

Hyderabad: The CBI carried out the polygraph test (lie-detector test) on the Hyderabad-based businessman Sana Satish Babu.

The test was conducted on the complainant-cum accused in the case against CBI’s former special director Rakesh Asthana which triggered the CBI Vs CBI infighting.

The test was conducted to ascertain if Mr Asthana had lied about paying a bribe of Rs 3 crore to Dubai-based brothers — Manoj Prasad and Somesh Prasad — on behalf of Mr Asthana.

It is alleged Mr Satish Babu paid the bribe to protect him in a probe the agency had registered in 2016 against controversial meat exporter Moin Qureshi, as alleged in the FIR filed by the CBI.

The test was also conducted on the two brothers.

A CBI officer asserted that the test had become necessary since the allegations were serious in nature and Mr Satish Babu had given specific details of his alleged meetings and conversations with the Prasad brothers from 2017.

Mr Satish Babu is facing a probe in a case of tax evasion and money laundering involving Mr Qureshi.

The Central Vigilance Commission, too, had recorded Mr Satish Babu’s statement in which he deviated from some of the claims he had made. It has asked the CBI to verify them, said a another CBI officer.
