Hyderabad: Gang of five robs Rs 59 lakh from ATM van on National Highway 65

Hyderabad: A gang of five persons on Tuesday morning stole Rs 58.97 lakh from a vehicle belonging to Writer Safeguard cash management company from the busy National Highway 65 near Panama area under Vanasthalipuram. The incident took place around 10.30 am.

The gang managed to divert attention of the security guard Nagendra by dropping a few currency notes and simultaneously flicked the box containing the cash and fled in an auto, said the police. Two cash custodians and the driver upon arriving at the Axis Bank ATM in Panama went into the ATM room to load the cash into the machine, while the security guard stayed back at the vehicle. Meanwhile, a person roaming around the ATM dropped some notes and told the security guard that the notes have fallen from the box carried by the custodians. Following which the gang managed to steal the box.
