BJP hits out at Opposition over Tej Bahadur clip
New Delhi: Questioning the Opposition’s “silence” over the content of a video clip in which Tej Bahadur Yadav, whose candidature from Varanasi Lok Saba seat was rejected by the Election Commission, is purportedly talking about assassinating Pri-me Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP on Tuesday asked the SP and BSP chiefs to apologise for projecting Yadav as the-ir alliance’s candidate.
The BJP claimed that the “sponsored attack” on Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal echoed for days but the Opposition is silent at this threat to Mr Modi.
The ruling party also accused the opposition camp for targetting the PM with a “torrent of abuses” in frustration over their “poor” show in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls and claimed people will give them a befitting reply on May 23 when votes are counted.
The BJP played the video clip during a press conference held by national spokesperson Sambit Patra, in which Yadav, a sacked BSF soldier who was pitted by the SP as its candidate against the PM, is purportedly talking about assassinating Mr Modi and that he knew terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen and LeT.
“It’s a very serious matter. It is about the Prime Minister’s safety. It is about conspiracy to assassinate an elected prime minister. Why is the Opposition silent..Does the opposition agree with what Tej Bahadur Yadav said..,” asked Mr Patra.
