BENGALURU: An avid quizzer, a versatile anchor, an enthusiastic volleyball player, a fierce debater and now the state topper for SSLC as well –Sudershan K.S, a student of Holy Child English High School, has it all! Scoring a whopping 100% at the SSLC exams for which the results were announced on Monday, the youngster aspires to become an engineer. “Securing a seat at IISc after completing PUC with good grades is my next plan as of now. Maintaining this very consistency in academics as well as co-curriculars is something that I’m looking forward to,” he said amid hundreds of wishes that kept pouring in since morning.
Ask him how he managed time for arts, sports and academics together and he says that concentrating on one at a time and taking timely decisions have helped him a lot. “I had set up a very practical timetable according to my own preferences for all right at the start of the academic year and ensured that nothing was left for last minute preparations,” he said. The only son to medical transcriptionist Manjula KS and Srinath K.P, a software company manager at Germany, Sudershan added that he expected his total score to be over 615 but never a 100%.
Sharing delight on the result, headmistress Kalpana Prakash said that Sudershan is the first to become the state topper even though the school has witnessed its students securing a place in the top 10 in the past two decades. “With 34 out of 85 students who appeared for the exam from our school this year scoring more than 90% marks, his achievement is a feather in our cap,” she said.
Aspiring aeronautical engineer Yashas M.S (Sadvidya High School, Mysuru) who also scored 625 out of 625 this year shared his views that scoring full marks is never an uphill task if one works systematically. “Working out previous question papers and listening closely to teachers in class helped me understand concepts well. Playing badminton during recess hours has helped me keep calm and be composed,” he said.
While two students from the state scores 625, eight (two from Bengaluru) scored 624. One among them, Srinivas M.A, a student of Thomas Memorial English School, Nelamangala aspires to become a paediatrician. The youngster is now looking out for a good institution in Bengaluru city to pursue PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology) for PUC. Born to policeman Anand and homemaker Siddagangamma, Srinivas said that clarifying doubts without delaying it any further helped him score well. The other topper from the city is Srihari Adiga B.S from Sri Saraswathi Vidya Mandir High School, V.V. Puram.
