I regret believing that Modi was fit to become PM: Ram Jethmalani

Referring to the BJP manifesto, he said the BJP had spoken of bringing back black money to the country.

Bengaluru: Senior Supreme Court counsel and Rajya Sabha member Mr Ram Jethmalani has regretted believing that Mr Narendra Modi was a fit person to become Prime Minister. Participating in a Meet the Press programme organised by Press Club of Bangalore and Bangalore Reporters' Guild here on Monday, Mr Jethmalani said that he had said this way back in 2011 and had now realised that it was the most stupid decision of his life.

Referring to the BJP manifesto, he said the BJP had spoken of bringing back black money to the country. However, during the last four years, no efforts have been made to achieve this objective. Still, BJP national president Mr Amit Shah talks about black money in his election campaigns, which sounds funny, he said.

“I have made 18 charges against the BJP government and they have not replied to even a single charge. The Supreme Court will be giving its judgment on black money before July 15. Then, everyone will know the truth. Mr Modi had promised to bring back black money and give Rs 15 lakh to every citizen and it has turned out to be a lie. I was a fool to believe that,'' Mr Jethmalani said.

Stating that he was here to expose Mr Modi, Mr Jethmalani said that he was doing his work of exposing them in front of the people. “I cannot say don't vote for BJP and vote for Congress. It is left to the people to decide who to vote for. The nation has suffered in the hands of both Congress and BJP,” Mr Jethmalani added.
