Rameswaram: Great escape for 13 as van dangles over sea
As traffic piled up, there was relief only when the police used a tractor to pull the vehicle out.
Rameswaram: Thirteen pilgrims from Arupukkottai in Virudhunagar district escaped unhurt after the van they were travelling in rammed into the railing of the Pamban Road Bridge and got stuck, with the front portion of the vehicle dangling dangerously over the sea.
The incident took place at around 6 am on Sunday on Pamban Road Bridge connecting Rameswaram with the mainland when the driver of the van swerved to avoid colliding with another vehicle. Though the front part of the van was stuck and facing towards the sea, the pilgrims managed to get out safely from the vehicle. As traffic piled up, there was relief only when the police used a tractor to pull the vehicle out.
