Lucknow: After Sachin Tendulkar, Aishwarya Rai and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is now the turn of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to enter the ‘mango hall of fame’.
Famous mango grower Haji Kalimullah has now developed a new variety of Dussheri mango that is named after Yogi. The Yogi mango, as he calls it, is ‘slender and beautiful’.
“I cannot say much about the taste because the new variety of fruit is yet to ripen but I hope it will taste good,” he said. Haji Kalimullah has been growing mangoes and developing new varieties since 1957 on his five acre mango orchard.
His talent in grafting and cultivating varieties of mangoes has fetched him many awarding including the Padma Shri award and the title of ‘Udyan Pandit’ by the Uttar Pradesh government.
