Thiruvananthapuram: One more killed in gang warfare
Thiruvananthapuram: A youth was beaten to death at Vakkom in the capital city after a verbal dispute broke out during Kannamangalam temple festival at 11.30 p.m. on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Kamsan alias Binu, a native of Writervilla in Vakkom. The Kadakkavoor police arrested the accused identified as Santhosh Kumar.
Long standing rivalry between the two after a case in which Santhos-hkumar was attacked by Binu around 11 years ago was the reason for the murder.
Binu was imprisoned after the incident on charges of attempt to murder in the case. It was for the first time, the two persons saw eye to eye after Binu came out of the jail after undergoing imprisonment in the case.
A verbal dispute had broken out between the two during the festival between them.
At the end of the argument, Santhosh took a brick that was lying nearby and beat him to death with that. Though Binu was taken to the hospital, his life could not be saved. The two are accused in criminal cases.
It was the fourth murder case in Thiruvananthapu-ram in the last one month’s time.
Ananthu a native of Konchiravila, who was kidnapped from near Karam-ana by a gang of assaila-nts on March 13 evening was found murdered in the bushes in the vacant plot of the BSNL regional training centre near a bike showroom near Kaiman-am in the Karamana-Kali-yikkavila stretch of the national highway the following day.
In another murder a person identified as Shyam was hacked on March 14 midnight. Involvement of drug mafia in both the cases had resulted in the police intensifying raids against drug peddlers.
Ani a noted goon of Barton Hill was murdered on March 25 by Jeevan another goon by brutally attacking him using sharp weapons. Both the accused and murderer were known criminals.
