P Sathasivam meets Sreedhanya and her family

Governor advises her on how to serve public without bowing to any pressure.

KALPETTA: Governor P. Sathasivam on Sunday met Sreedhanya Suresh, the woman hailing from the Kurichia community who bagged the 410th rank in the Civil Service examination, and her family for a friendly interaction and tea at the Wayanad collectorate.

After discussions, an elated Sreedhanya told reporters that the governor advised her on how to serve the public without bowing to any pressure from political parties and others. "It is for the first time I am seeing a collector's office and interacting with the district collector who was also present during the meeting", she said.

The governor, who was here in connection with an official programme, had expressed his wish to meet the woman and her family after coming to know about her unique story of struggle in newspapers and TV channels. Sreedhanya reached home on Saturday from Thiruvananthapuram.

Giving a message to the youngsters, Sreedhanya said her achievement proved that anybody from any poorest background can achieve this glory with meticulous planning and determination.

On the meeting with the governor and collector, Kamala, Sreedhanya's mother, said that her heart was full of joy, while Suresh, her father, said that he was happy that she achieved positive results after struggle of many years.

Sreedhanya's parents are daily labourers residing in an incomplete house at Ambalakkolly tribal settlement of Idiyamvayal near Vythiry, Wayanad.
