Hyderabad: TRS youth wing leader P. Jagan on Thursday lodged a complaint against the Telugu Desam IT wing, alleging defamation of the Telangana state government and Telangana Rrashtra Samiti leadership through the circulation of fake Twitter trends.
The complainant alleged that the Telugu Desam has hired some agencies to trend certain hashtags on Twitter to defame the TS government.
Mr Jagan in his complaint alleged that the TD IT cell had resorted to unethical means to trend the hashtags such as #TSGovtStealsData and #KTRFakeTears.
He said the hashtags were trended by people in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and other places. This was done with an aim to defame the TRS and its government.
An official from the Cyberabad commissionerate confirmed that they had received a petition against the TD IT wing, but the case would be registered only after reviewing the content of the petition.
