Hyderabad: Body of a newborn girl found in crematorium
Hyderabad: The decomposed body of a newborn female baby was found dumped in a crematorium at Bharatnagar in Uppal on Thursday. Police suspect that the baby is two days old and registered a case of suspicious death.
During the early hours of Thursday, people working at the crematorium at Beerappaguda in Bharatnagar under Uppal police station limits, sensed a foul smell emitting from near the compound wall. They found the body of a newborn baby wrapped in a black polythene cover and alerted police. Police along with a clues team and dog squad rushed to the crematorium and recovered the body. Prima facie, it was found that the baby was a female and about two or three days old.
However, it is not yet clear if the baby was abandoned or thrown after death. Police are also checking with hospitals in the vicinity to find if any delivery of a female baby and its subsequent death have taken place recently.
Uppal sub-inspector Venkata Krishna said, “The baby was a female and newborn. We are verifying whether it was abandoned because she was female or the body was abandoned after death. The body has been sent for autopsy to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary and further investigation will proceed based on the report. A case of suspicious death has been registered.”
