Hyderabad: Bags with gold in frame, wheels seized
Hyderabad: About three kg of gold moulded as frames and wheels of suitcases was seized by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) as it was being smuggled into the city at the Shamshabad airport on Thursday. The AIU sleuths of the Customs department arrested two city residents and seized the gold whose value was put at Rs 1 crore.
According to sources, the AIU intercepted two passengers who arrived at the airport after profiling their behaviour. Their four trolley bags were checked by officials but they could not find anything suspicious.
The sleuths then thoroughly checked the trolley bags and noticed that the handles, metal frames and the wheels were made of gold, but were covered by steel and aluminum coating.
Officials found that the concealed gold weighed 3 kg. The passengers were placed under arrested and the gold seized.
