TJAC to back parents' fight against fee hike

After its unemployment rally', the TJAC is now planning to fight against failure of TRS government in regulating fees.

Hyderabad: After its ‘unemployment rally’, the TJAC is now planning to fight against failure of TRS government in regulating fees in privates schools and colleges by involving parents and students. TJAC chairman Prof M. Kodandaram has decided to extend complete support to the agitation spearheaded by parents demanding regulation of fee over the past few months. Interestingly, the steering committee of the TJAC on Tuesday suspended two of its leaders, Pittala Ravinder and Nallapu Prahlaad, who raised a banner of revolt against Prof Kodandaram accusing him of allying with some political parties.

Meanwhile, Prof Kodandaram accused the TS government of turning a blind eye to the rampant commercialisation of education making education unaffordable for the common man in TS. “Despite parents taking up several agitational programmes and submitting representations to the government right from the CM to ministers, no one has bothered to address the issue. Except for making promises and giving assurances to bring regulate fees, no concrete steps were taken in this regard. Schools and colleges are resorting to indiscriminate fee hike year after year imposing heavy burden on parents. The time has come to exert pressure on the government to act against such schools,” he said.

The TJAC chairman accused the state government of hatched a conspiracy to weaken the TJAC by engineering splits. He said TJAC would not be bogged down by such tactics but would emerge stronger by mobilising the support of all sections against anti-people policies of the government.
