Telangana: TRS candidates win MLA quota council seats

The TRS on Friday won three MLC seats under MLAs' quota unanimously.

Hyderabad: The TRS on Friday won three MLC seats under MLAs’ quota unanimously. The TRS had fielded Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, V. Gangadhar Goud and Alimineti Krishna Reddy. The three were the only candidates who filed their nomination papers on Tuesday, the last day to do so. Since no one from other parties filed nominations, their election became unanimous. However, an official announcement is yet to be made.

The TRS enjoys absolute majority in the Legislative Assembly. Election for lone Teachers’ MLC seat will be held on March 9. As many as 12 candidates are in fray. The TRS is supporting K. Janardhan Reddy, leader of Progressive Recognised Teachers' Union, while Congress, BJP and Left parties have extended support to other candidates. Over 23,000 voters have been registered for polling and the result will be announced on March 11.
