SSC exams: Officials told to provide all essentials
Visakhapatnam: Officials should provide all the basic facilities and material needed for SSC students to write their exams, said HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao. On Monday, Mr. Rao conducted a video conference with the Commissioner of School Education, DEOs of all the 13 districts and other education officials at the collectorate in Visakhapatnam. Mr. Rao said that about 6,57,595 students would appear for the exams in 3,028 centres which would start from March 21.
“Besides deputing sitting and flying squads, the officials should set up closed circuit cameras and webcams in sensitive examination centres,” he said and added that he would conduct surprise checks. “In case of any irregularities, officials responsible will be taken to task.” Mr. Rao spoke to the DEOs of various districts and took stock of the furniture and other amenities available in the exam centres and directed the officials to hire the furniture from private suppliers or procure it from the private schools.
The minister also asked the officials to deploy an ANM at each examination centre and make ORS packets available. “The officials should ensure that there should be proper ventilation, furniture, electricity, toilets and other basic facilities at each centre. Not a single student should write the exam sitting on the floor,” he said. DEO M.V. Krishna Reddy explained the situation in the district and how they were preparing to conduct the exams.
Mr. Rao directed the Commissioner of School Education K. Sandhya Rani to chair a meeting with the collectors and SPs of all 13 districts to seek their assistance. Ms Sandhya Rani, and Director of Examinations D. Prasanna Kumar participated in the video conference from Hyderabad this morning.
