KOZHIKODE: RMP’s K.K. Rema will not enter the election fray this time . “No, am not in the fray. We will decide our candidate in a couple of days,” Ms Rema, RMP state committee member told DC.
According to sources, CPM was planning to field a woman candidate in Vadakara or a fresh face from Onchiyam area to garner votes from that region, which is the RMP fort. The name of Mr Rameshan Paleri, chairman , Uralungal labour contract society limited (ULCC), was mentioned in party circles. “If Rema is not contesting, the JD (S) candidate would again be the LDF candidate here,” said a CPM leader.
As of now, sitting MLA C.K. Nanu has a god chance. Manayath Chandran (JD (U)) is likely to be the UDF candidate. RMP is likely to field Onchiyam grama panchayat former president P. Jayarajan in Vadakara. This is the first Assembly election for the RMP after the death of its leader T.P. Chandrasekharan in 2012. In the 2011 Assembly election, RMP’s K. Venu came third in Vadakara garnering 10,098 votes.
