The android application of Tamil Nadu Elections will help voters to stay updated with the latest developments in the State’s election process.

Besides the app, EC had also created a special number to file election-related complaints through WhatsApp. The public can easily remember the 10-digit mobile number (9444123456) and through this facility all complaints can be recorded through WhatsApp, he said.

Earlier in the day, Lakhoni who kick-started training for Returning Officers (ROs) in Chennai instructed poll officials to be cautious while permitting rallies and public meetings.

Officers on poll duty should ensure that the campaign and rallies did not affect public life and particularly the board examinations for students were underway and this had to be considered before issuing permission for political parties, he said.

He also pointed out minor mistakes that occur during election process starting from notification of polls, nominations, scrutiny and polling and alerted ROs and the possible errors to be averted. The ROs were also briefed on legal aspects related to nominations and election process. Above 60 ROs from all districts took part.
