Vijayawada: D Umamaheswara Rao involved in smuggling, alleges YSR Congress

The YSRC men demanding suspension of the CI and SI for registering fake case against Maganti Venkata Rao.

Vijayawada: Mild tension prevailed at the Mylavaram police station on Thursday when the YSR Congress activists had a heated argument with the TD men on registering of case against YSRC leader Maganti Venkata Rao.

The leaders and activists of both the parties staged a protest in front of the police station. The YSRC men demanding suspension of the CI and SI for registering fake case against Maganti Venkata Rao.

Led by their party leader Vasantha Krishna Prasad, the YSRC activists squatted at the police station and alleged that the case was registered on the direction of minister for water resources D. Umamaheswara Rao.

On knowing about the protest, the followers and supporters of minister D. Umamaheswara Rao reached Mylavaram and entered into an argument with the YSRC activists.

Later, they too squatted at the station.

Mr Krishna Prasad alleged that Umamaheswara Rao was involved in wood smuggling and other illegalities and knowing that the YSRC men lodged complaints against him on the same, he directed the police to foist cases against the YSRC leader.

The YSRC activists said they were ready to prove the illegal activities of the minister. Mr Prasad also demanded the police to release the CCTV footage in which YSRC leader offered money to the police.

Heated arguments registered between TD and YSRC supporters and the police dispersed the two groups by assuring them investigating the allegations.
