Telugu name board must for licence
Hyderabad: As a part of implementation of official language Telugu in the state the TS labour department has decided to renew the licences of private business establishments and other institutions only if they displayed name boards in Telugu.
During the recent World Telugu Conference in Hyderabad, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had directed all departments to implement official language Telugu. He also instructed the labour department to ensure that all business establishments display properly name boards in Telugu. Accordingly, the department issued instructions to all district officials.
Department officials said that by the end of December 2017 about 60 per cent of business establishments displayed their name boards in Telugu and now sought the latest position on the matter. In some districts, officials conducted special drives to see name boards of all private establishments were displayed in Telugu.
Principal secretary of labour Shashank Goel said instructions were given officials to renew licences of private establishments only if they displayed name boards prominently in Telugu. Private entities had to renew their licences annually. He said that along with the renewal application, establishments had to submit a photograph of the name board. In case the display is not proper, the renewal application would be rejected.
