Telangana yet to take LRS rejected lands

The government was supposed to issue notices to encroachers and take back these lands immediately.

Hyderabad: Land parcels that were not regularised under TS government’s scheme of 2015 were yet to be taken back. Rough estimates put the value at Rs 2,500 crore.

Huge land parcels worth crores of rupees for which regularisation applications were submitted had been rejected as they were not in accordance with stipulated norms. Regularisation applications were submitted for lands that belonged to government organisations, graveyards, lakes, public parks and playgrounds and were rejected during a field-level verification.

The government was supposed to issue notices to encroachers and take back these lands immediately. But, these land parcels continued to be in the possession of encroachers as the government did not initiate the takeover process.

The government issued GOs 58 and 59 to regularise encroached government lands. The first GO covered BPL families for whom the lands were regularised free of cost up to 150 sqyd.

The next pertained to regularisation of lands in possession of those above the BPL limit and was to be by collecting market rate. They were given the option to pay the amount in four instalments.

However, 3,000 applications in the GHMC limits and Ranga Reddy district were rejected as they were not in compliance with the regularisation norms. The rejected ones alone accounted for nearly 150 acres.

The land parcels in the GHMC limits and Ranga Reddy commanded huge real estate value with price ranging between '10 crore and '30 crore. The total value of land that was rejected for regulariation was estimated at nearly Rs 2,500 crore.
