Nellore: As many as 180 Common Services Centers (CSCs) have been arranged in SPSR Nellore district to provide different public utility services under one roof. The scheme is one of the mission mode projects under the Digital India Programme of the government of India.
CSCs are the access points for delivery of essential public utility services, social welfare schemes, healthcare, financial, education and agriculture services, apart from a host of B2C services (Business to Citizens Services) in rural and remote areas of the country apart from towns.

However, many people are unaware of the CSCs due to lack of publicity by the government of India. In fact the CSC's have become a boon to the unemployed in the villages and towns across the country.
Unlike in Mee Seva, the commission is credited to the account of franchisee of CSC immediately after each transaction. Moreover some of the franchisees are being linked to banks and selected insurance companies in the region to act as business correspondents.
The investment also is very nominal since there is no need to set up office. The franchisee can operate from home with a computer system and other required gadgets.
Chevuru Sudheer, District Manager of CSCs said they have covered 200 Gram Panchayats out of 944 in Nellore district and there are plans to open one CSC in every Panchayat office.
According to Mr Sudheer, one of the key mandates of CSC scheme is to deliver Government to Citizen (G2C) services.
Various G2C services of the Central government ministries and departments, apart from State-specific services have been integrated into the Digital Seva portal for delivery to citizens through the network of CSCs.
Public can find out the nearest CSC through Google by typing 'CSC locator'. Mr Sudheer said candidates with good knowledge of computers and Class X qualification can apply. The union government also gives them an opportunity of training.
