KSEB to set up One stop centres soon
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) Limited has plans to start state-of-the-art ‘power services centres’ on an experimental basis in all the 14 districts.
All the services a consumer expects from KSEB, right from meter replacements to new connections, will be provided at these centres.
“They will be the one-stop centres for all KSEBL-related services,” power minister M.M. Mani said.
The system will be extended to other important centres if the experiment succeeds.
Unlike in the existing system, a consumer can approach any of these district centres for their requirements. Meaning, a consumer based in the capital can pay his bills or seek a new connection from the centre in Kasargod. As it stands, it is a particular circle office that looks after the needs of consumers within its jurisdiction.
The centres will be set up in areas that are easily accessible to public. The following services can be availed there: New connections, meter replacement, change of ownership, change of tariff, phase conversion, disconnection and removal of power lines.
They will also entertain queries on billing, service quality and complaints. “We have also plans to include services related to grid-connected solar plants, too, in these centres,” the minister said. He wants them equipped to accept power bills. A KSEBL source said that it would be better if such a facility was avoided as it could create huge rush.
“KSEBL already has an online option, and that would suffice,” the source said.
The centres will also be linked to institutions like Energy Management Centre, Anert, and Electrical Inspectorate.
