Circle Inspectors in Andhra Pradesh told to meet DGP for promotion

The bench told them to approach the DGP and represent their case there.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday directed 26 Circle Inspectors from Rayalaseema to make a representation to the DGP of Andhra Pradesh for promotion.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K. Vijaya Lakshmi while refusing to direct the DGP to incorporate them in the seniority list said that it would not grant any concession where the law did not permit it. The case of the petitioners was that they were promoted from SI rank to CI during the upgradation of 26 police stations in the region. Si-nce then they had remained in that post and their names were not considered while preparing the promotion list of DSPs.

The bench told them to approach the DGP and represent their case there. The DGP would take a decision in seven days from the date of receipt of representation, it said.
