GUNTUR: In an interesting development, the Kapu leaders and activists received messages from minister for home affairs N. China Rajappa explaining about the actions of the government towards fulfilling of BC reservation to Kapus promise.
The SMS says that earlier government did not work for the BC reservations to Kapus despite enjoying the power for ten years and appealed the Kapus to cooperate with the Telugu Desam government towards providing BC reservations to Kapus.
The Kapus continued the relay hunger fast protest on Sunday at Gun-tur conducted by Kapu JAC. YSR Congress MLA of Guntur East Sk Mohammed Mustafa visited the hunger camp, joined the protest and assured about YSRC working for the BC reservations to Kapus.
The Kapu leaders asked Mr Mustafa to raise the issue of Kapu BC reservations in the forthcoming Assembly sessions. Mr Mustafa assured about raising the Kapu issue in the Assembly through YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The Kapu leaders said that AP Congress president N. Raghuveera Reddy and other leaders are joining the Kapu protest on Monday at Guntur.
Meanwhile, former minister and Telugu Desam senior leader Dokka Manikyavaraprasada Rao objected to the allegation of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanbham against AP CM N. Chandrababu Naidu and appealed Mr Padmana-bham to call off the indefinite hunger fast.
The Kapus conducted plate-beating protests in Tenali, Mangalagiri, Narsaraopeta, Chilakaluripeta, Sattenapalli, Vinukonda and other areas of Guntur district.
Pawan fans burn his banner
The fans of Telugu cine hero and Jana Sena founder K. Pawan Kalyan burnt the banner of their favourite hero on Sunday at Uppudi near Repalle objecting to the absence of support to BC reservations to the Kapus demand. The fans displayed Pawan banners on the occasion of new year and Sankranti festival but the angry fans, especially women on Sunday burnt the banner. Fans N. Venkat and others lamented that they voted to the Telugu Desam following the suggestion of Pawan Kalyan. They alleged that Pawan promised to question the government on public issues but he forgot after TD came to power. They said that though Pawan is a Kapu , he is unwilling to join the fight for BC quota and asked him to pressurize the TD to fulfill election promise.
