Girl dies fleeing monkeys in Arikempadu
Khammam: A two-year-old girl named N. Jasvita, died in an attack by monkeys in Arikempadu village in Enkoor mandal on Sunday. The incident shocked the sleepy village of Arikempadu.
Jasvita, the daughter of Sudhakar and Padma, was playing in front of her house. She was surrounded by two monkeys as she was playing.
Padma, mother of Jasvitha tried to come to her rescue, but the kid got frightened at seeing the langurs. K. Srinivas, a neighbour said that the child was surrounded by the two monkeys and started crying.
She tried to escape by going into her house, but failed, he said. “She fell on the ground suddenly and suffered injuries on the back of her head,” he said, adding that monkeys have become a problem for them.
The parents tried to take the child to a hospital in Kothagudem. But she died before that. It is believed that she sustained injuries in a sensitive area on the head. Gloom descended on the village after the incident and villagers rushed to the house of the Sudhakar couple.
Recently a man died near Warangal due to heart failure while he was trying to escape monkeys. In another case near Nellore an 11-year-old girl suffered a fracture when she jumped from the terace to escape monkeys.
