Farmers fail to get compensation
GUNTUR: There has been no compensation from the CRDA despite completion of two months of banana plantation removal.
Earlier, the CRDA bulldozed ready to yield Rs 20 lakh worth banana plantations at Lingayapalem in the capital region on December 8. The victim farmers, G. Chandrasekhar, G. Ramanamma and G. Rajesh lodged a complaint with the CRDA and the police and CRDA agreed to pay compensation but in vain.
With the victim farmers are making rounds to the office, the CRDA decided to conduct an inquiry to estimate the loss after two months on February 9 at the victims’ farmland.
Mr Rajesh said that he met all officials of the CRDA seeking compensation as promised by them but in vain as the CRDA did not estimate the loss and further did not offer any compensation.
He said that the bulldozing took plce on December 8, but the CRDA did not show any interest to estimate the loss and compensate till February. Hence, he gave a legal notice to the CRDA seeking compensation.
Mentioning about the estimation of loss during the time of the incident, he questioned how the CRDA will estimate the loss after two months. He felt that there is no use with the estimation process scheduled on February 9 but they will attend the process, will inform the crop loss due to bulldozing and demand payment of Rs 20 lakh compensation for banana plantations loss.
Meanwhile, the CRDA officials said that a team with Lingayapalem CRDA competent authority, special deputy collector, assistant director of horticulture, Tullur mandal agriculture officer and assistant engineer of R & B department will estimate the loss during the removal of banana plantation and this team would will visit the victim farmland on February 9.
