Kakinada: Tension prevailed at the residence of Kapunadu leader Mudragada Padmanabham, whose indefinite hunger strike entered its third day on Sunday, after police personnel entered the house in Kirlampudi of East Godavari district.

This angered Mr Padmanabham’s followers who staged a dharna in front of the house and raised slogans against the police and the government.

They suspected that the police was trying to shift the Mudragada couple from the house to foil their fast.

Women activists of Kirlampudi launched an agitation by giving up lunch and banging their empty plates with spoons.

They demanded that Kapu ministers resign from the Cabinet. One Varalakshmi of the village said that the health of Mr Padmanabham’s wife Padmavathi was deteriorating by the day as she is a diabetic and had earlier undergone a major surgery.

“Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu should immediate accept Mudragada’s demands and issue orders so that the agitation is called off,” the women said.
The women made it clear that they would not maintain silence if the couple’s health deteriorated further due to adamant stand of the CM.
