Chinta Mohan arrested for supporting Kapu protest
Tirupati: Police arrested former MP and Congress leader Chinta Mohan in Tirupati when he went to express solidarity with the women protesting at the municipal corporation office in support of fasting Kapu-nadu leader Mudragada Padmanabham.
The former MP demanded that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu include Kapus in the BCs list and give 10 per cent reservations for the Kapu and Balija communities and keep up his election promise.
He reminded that Mann-uru Kapus are in the BCs list in Telangana and Turpu Kapus in Uttarandhra were enjoying reservations. He felt unity among Kapus, BCs and Dalits was also needed to solve their problems.
He said that Mr Padmanabham had undertaken an indefinite fast to mount pressure on the government for Kapu reservation because the government is neglecting the Kapus.
Police arrested Mr Chinta Mohan because there was no permission for the protest and shifted him to the police station. He was later released on bail.
Meanwhile, police imposed Section 30 IPC in Tirupati. Tirupati urban S.P. Gopinath Jetti said, “Law and order is in control in Tirupati urban police district.
