Amid rumours, some high tension at residence of Kapunadu leader

Mr Padmandabham sent one of his followers, Alkula Ramakrishna, who is also on an indefinite fast, out of the house.

Kakinada: Tension prevailed around the residence of Kapunadu leader Mudragada Padmanabham on Sunday evening after he refused to come out of his room for medical tests.

Mr Padmandabham’s followers parked three cars in front of the gate to stop the police from entering the house, suspecting that they would arrest the fasting leader.

Mr Padmandabham sent one of his followers, Alkula Ramakrishna, who is also on an indefinite fast, out of the house.

This sparked rumours that Mr Padmandabham had kept a gas cylinder ready to thwart any attempt by the police to arrest him and lead to some tension.

Joint collector S. Satyanarayana had earlier attempted to persuade Mr Padmanabham to undergo medical tests, but the leader refused.

Later, the collector said the health of Mr Padmanabham and his wife was deteriorating, and doctors would have to conduct medical checks.
