Numaish put off till January 10: City police commissioner
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad city police commissioner C.V. Anand on Friday clarified the doubts over cancellation of the 81st All India Industrial Exhibition, also known as Numaish, and said that the event was put off till January 10.
“The exhibition is postponed till January 10 of this in view of the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in the interest of public health and safety,” said the police commissioner.
Aditya Margam, secretary of the exhibition society said they were unsure of the exhibition opening even after January 10. “We were trying to get permission to open the place with changed timings but this new order stating that the place is shut till January 10 looks like we cannot negotiate until then. If they announce that we can open the place, we are ready to kick start the place within a half a day,” he said.
Earlier in December 2021, acting on a plea filed by lawyer Khaja Aijazuddin, the Telangana High Court directed the state government to take a final call on whether or not the Numaish exhibition should be conducted.
