KAKINADA: West Godavari superintendent of police Rahul Dev Sarma on Friday said drone cameras will be utilised to curb cockfights within the district in connection with the Sankranti festival.

Inaugurating a traffic signal system at Jangareddygudem in West Godavari district, he said all steps have been taken to check cockfights. Police have already bound over 3,000 persons and seized thousands of cock knives tied to feet of fighting roosters.

The SP said notices have also been served on suspected cockfight organisers through village police welfare officers. School students have taken out a procession in Jangareddygudem to create awareness against cockfights.
