Hyderabad: Are you planning to go on a festive vacation along with family members and locking up your home? If so, then you must inform your nearest police station by dialling 100. This will ensure an intensified police vigil and an increase in night patrolling to prevent burglaries.
Cyberabad police commissioner Stephen Ravindra has issued certain guidelines for keeping households safe when the residents are out of town.
"We have taken suitable measures to prevent theft as thousands of families are planning to visit their native places during the Sankranti festival, which comes along with an eight-day holiday. If any person is seen moving around under suspicious circumstances near houses that are empty, we urge the neighbours to inform us by dialling 100. We will straightaway take up additional patrolling," Ravindra said.
Night patrolling has been enhanced in localities where theft has been reported earlier. He advised people to keep at least one light on before locking the main door and avoid keeping important articles and valuables. Vehicles should not be parked on the roadside and they should be appropriately locked.
"The families on vacation must regularly get in touch with neighbours inquiring about their premises," he said.
CCTVs have been installed under Nenu Saitham programme and locals and residents can install their own CCTVs in their premises," he said.
"Every resident must take the contact details and mobile numbers of the beat constable and the nearest police station. Residents can reach out on WhatsApp No. 94906-17444," Ravindra said.
