Hyderabad: Kids begging on streets rescued
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police rescued 18 children aged between 11 months to 12 years from begging at various places in the city recently.
The children claimed that they were forced to beg by their parents near religious places. Police have rehabilitated the children at rescue homes and booked a case.
On January 1, the Cyberabad police along with Ranga Reddy District Child Protection Unit officials rescued eight girls and 10 boys who were begging at Calvary temple in Hydernagar of Miyapur. The rescue operation was planned expecting heavy public presence at the Calvary Temple on New Year.
The police found that the children were brought to the city in trains by their parents and relatives from Vikarabad and Tandur, to beg money. “A case was registered against the people who used the minors for begging at Miyapur police station against. Investigations are under way to verify if they were abducted,” said the police.
