Telangana Udyogula Sangham says lift ban on transfers
Hyderabad: The Telangana Udyogula Sangham (TUS) has chalked out an agitation programme to demand lifting of the ban on general transfer of government employees, raising of income tax exemption limit from Rs 2.50 lakh to '5 lakh and abolition of contributory pension scheme.
The association adopted resolutions to this effect on Sunday at a meeting held in Ravindra Bharathi for launching the TUS 2018 Diary.
TUS president A. Padma Chary said government employees and their families were facing hardships due to the ban on general transfers for the past six years.
He said employees played a crucial role in the Telangana statehood agitation, hoping that the situation of employees would improve in the new state. But, employees continue to face the same problems. He demanded that the government order the ban on general transfers be replaced by a new one lifting the ban.
The association demanded that the state government press the Centre to raise the income tax slab for government employees from Rs 2.50 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
The association also demanded immediate abolition of the contributory pension scheme, which affects some 1.26 lakh employees who joined government service after September 2004.
