Exercise for an hour every day: Naidu

Around 7,500 people participated in the 5K, 10K and Half Marathon run on Sunday morning.

VIJAYAWADA: A word of advice on health from the Chief Minister himself: Do one hour of exercise every day and keep hospitals at bay, besides easing the daily pressures of life and lifting up your spirits.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who flagged off the third Amaravati Marathon in the capital on Sunday from the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium (IGMS) here, said many more marathons and other sports would be organised in the state as they bring health, wealth and fame to people.

Around 7,500 people participated in the 5K, 10K and Half Marathon run on Sunday morning. The age group of the enthusiastic participants ranged from four years to 70 years.

Mr Naidu said next year the Amaravati Marathon will be an international event. He said he appreciated Kantilal Dande, managing director and ex-officio secretary of the AP State Housing Corporation, participating in the Half Marathon.

He recalled that he had started the Hyderabad Marathon 23 years ago, which has now become a major event. He said they have conducted sports and marathons in 110 municipalities and in all mandals in the state in the 5th edition of Janmabhoomi.
