Thousands of People Make it To Revanth's Swearing-In

HYDERABAD: The swearing-in ceremony of TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy as the first Congress Chief Minister of Telangana saw a massive gathering of party leaders and activists at Lal Bahadur Stadium, which wore a festive look, here on Thursday.

Most of them came voluntarily from far-off places like Adilabad and Khammam. A few activists wore traditional Congress turbans while others had badges with photographs of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi along with Revanth Reddy.

The main attraction was the colourful Bonalu procession led by ‘Potharajus’. Some enthusiastic activists burst firecrackers in front of the traffic control room after the ceremony.

As the stadium was jam-packed, the cadre waited outside and watched the ceremony on the giant screens put up at several places around the venue.

Slogans like ‘Jai Revanth Anna… Jai Congress…’ rent the air when Reddy began taking the oath ‘Revanth Reddy ane nenu…….’”

“We are happy to have made it to the event. It was the Congress that granted Telangana,” said Ch. Saibaba Yadav from Uppal.

Some of them recalled the days when they attended the swearing-in of Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy at the same venue in 2004 and 2009.

Meanwhile, the cadre lauded Revanth Reddy for following in the footsteps of N.T. Rama Rao and Rajasekhar Reddy, who both took oath at LB Stadium.

“It’s now going to be a people’s government in the state,” said N. Bhaskar, a Congress activist from Shadnagar.

The turnout of the people that was normal till 11 am swelled by thousands just prior to the commencement of the ceremony.
