Visakhapatnam: HCL scouts for local IT talent
Visakhapatnam: A team of experts from the IT services major HCL Technologies was in Vizag on Thursday, scouting for local talent to recruit for its upcoming centre in Vijayawada.
The HCL team, led by the company’s vice-president Srimathi Shivashankar, centre head Subbraman and recruitment division deputy manager Shaik Ahmed Alisha interacted with Gitam deemed to be University president M. Sri Bharat. Later. the team met university Vice-Chancellor Prof M.S. Prasada Rao, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. K. Sivarama Krishna, Registrar Prof. M. Potharaju and others.
During the interaction, Ms Shivashankar said that the company is establishing biggest R&D centre in AP to focus on emerging technologies.
She said that HCL aims to encourage the local talent and was selecting a few universities like Gitam for academic tie-ups. She said that HCL wants to strengthen the R&D wing with Andhra origin experts who have worked in the USA and other countries.
“We are receiving good response from Gitam alumni,” Ms Shivashankar said. She said that HCL was interested to relate with engineering, science and management departments.
Prof. Prasada Rao said that the university was closely associated with various industries like Dr Reddy’s Lab, Laurus Labs and was offering industry-based programmes. He said that the university was ready to extend support to industries to train manpower.
Prof. Prasada Rao thanked HCL officials for choosing Gitam for academic relations.
