Sangh Parivar moves against women wall
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The RSS is planning to counter the women's wall planned by the LDF on January 1 by staging namajapam protests throughout the state. It has alleged that the state government was conspiring to wreck the Sivagiri pilgrimage being held on December 30, 31 and January 1 by colluding with SNDP yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan.
The RSS will field other social organisations under the Sabarimala Karma Samithi to protect the renaissance movement. A meeting of 52 Hindu organisations will be held in Kochi next week to plan the protests.
Several lakhs of pilgrims make a beeline to Sreenarayana Guru's tomb during the annual Sivagiri pilgrimage. A senior BJP leader told DC that the ploy of the LDF government was to sabotage the Sivagiri pilgrimage.
"Vellapally is scared of Pinarayi and doesn't have the guts to challenge him. The Sabarimala Karma Samithi will hold a meeting next week to counter the women wall," he said.
An RSS leader said protests will be held across the state in the form of namajapam. He alleged that Vellapally was cosying up to Pinarayi to wriggle out of the cases against him.
Several Hindu organisations have backed out of the women wall programme. Vaikundaswami Dharma Pracharana Sabha (VSDP) chairman Vishnupuram Chandrashekharan claimed here on Thursday that about 60 organisations had withdrawn from the programme.
The NSS will commemorate Mannam Jayanti on January 2 and the BJP leaders have asked whether Pinarayi will stage the women wall that day. The government is targeting the Sivagiri pilgrimage, he felt.
