Nellore: Police personnel to be marked absent for not wearing helmet

The SP addressed home guards on the occasion of 56th Home Guards Foundation Day at Umesh Chandra Hall.

Nellore: Nellore SP Aiswarya Rastogi has directed all police men including officers and home guards to wear helmet when they are driving two wheelers.

Hinting that they are not above the law, he instructed the officers to mark absent any member of the staff if they were found not wearing helmet even if they attend to duty. He said all the department personnel should keep valid driving license while assuring to hold melas for the benefit of those not having license.

Expressing displeasure over triple riding, he underlined the need to book cases against all such violations. The SP was addressing home guards on the occasion of 56th Home Guards Foundation Day at Umesh Chandra Hall here on Thursday.

Referring to 776 home guards working in the district, Mr Rastogi said their number is 25 per cent of the total police force in the district.

Pointing to their contribution to law and order, traffic and internal security, he said they can benefit from various welfare programmes if they discharge their duties with responsibility.

He told them to practice Yoga, Dhyana and exercise to protect their health. He said the home guards are free to use all the facilities available for police and advised them to register their names for insurance and NTR Health scheme.

Additional SP P. Parameswar Reddy, Additional SP (crime) Anjaneyulu, Additional SP (AR) Veerabhadrudu, SB DSP Kota Reddy and Traffic DSP Mallikarjuna Rao were present.
