THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government will move the court against Hindu Aikya Vedhi president K. P. Sasikala for her communally provocative speeches and campaigns. Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran said in the Assembly on Thursday that Sasikala had been attacking the devaswom board saying that it has 60 percent Christian employees while Hindus were facing hard times.

Mr Surendan, who was replying to Mr P.C. George, said she had been spreading false campaigns against the TDB officials. He also said that Sabarimala tantri is one among the 6, 000 employees of TDB and that he can be made accountable.

"Tantris are appointed by the government or sometimes based on tradition as well. Akin to the priests, the tantris are also expected to perform certain responsibilities," he said.

Chapters 8, 10 and 14 of the devaswom manual state that tantris are answerable, he said and added that they were like any other employees. Tantris cannot interfere in the policy issues of the board, he said.
